JADA Collection
The Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award (JADA) has been the means by which the Grafton Regional Gallery has acquired a unique and impressive collection of contemporary Australian drawing. Since the establishment of the drawing acquisition prize in 1988 there have been over one hundred works acquired into the collection from leading, established and emerging artists.
The JADA acknowledges and records the rise of drawing as a major field of arts practice by Australian artists. This collection which is the major focus of the gallery’s acquisition policy has developed through the various approaches of the judges into a collection described as compelling, thought provoking, innovative, exuberant and diverse.
