Ken Done Collection

In 2008 Ken Done donated 135 of his prints to the Grafton Regional Gallery Collection. This considerable gift presented the gallery provides a visual history of the iconic Australian artist’s printing career and formed the Ken Done Collection.

The prints joined the eight works by Ken Done and various support materials held in the gallery’s Regional Collection. The painting Burning Cane was purchased by the gallery in 1988 from the group exhibition Artist/Tree held at the Grafton Regional Gallery from 8 to 26 June 1988, the gallery’s inaugural year. The artist also donated The mighty Clarence 1947 from this exhibition. The remaining six works were donated when Ken was the Guest of Honour at an ‘Evening with Ken Done’ on 1 March 1996. The gift consisted of a painting Balmoral morning, March II 1996 and five silk screens from his series Balmoral Beach printed from 1995 to 1996.
